Module 104: Inclusion, Diversity and Global Education: Real inclusion should recognize the plurality of ways of belonging’ (O. Donnell, 2015, p.250) With the above statement in mind critically reflect on the ways in which inclusion is conceptualised within Irish educational policy by drawing on the theory and research literature encountered over the module.

Critically discuss the role of: Universal Design for Learning in fostering inclusive and diverse learning communities while preparing students to be 21st century global citizens.

  1. Demonstrate an awareness of how inclusion is conceptualised in Irish educational Policy as well as an ability to critically reflect on this conceptualisation
  2. Evidence of an awareness and understanding of research relating to inclusive education, diversity and global citizenship.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of student voice in fostering inclusive practices within education.
  4. Show an awareness of research relating to Universal Design for Learning or assessment or restorative practice as a means of promoting inclusion.
  5. Your essay must demonstrate your ability to write in a formal academic manner. You must refer to a minimum of five peer-reviewed papers.
