Assignment Task
Background
One of the symptoms of long-COVID is a loss or decline in the sense of smell. However, when people are asked which sense (i.e., touch, taste, smell, sight, or hearing) they could live without, most indicate they could live without their sense of smell. Such anecdotal findings suggest that the sense of smell is the least important of our senses and we could live normal lives without it, but is this consistent with research findings?
Question
Does having no, or a relatively poor sense of smell, compromise a person’s well-being? Support your position by discussing the deficits and difficulties faced by people with no, or a relatively poor sense of smell, in three different aspects of their lives (e.g., physical, psychological, and social). Instruction: A different citation is required for each of the three aspects of a person’s life that are mentioned. For example, if you discuss physical, psychological, and social aspects, each of the three aspects will need to be supported by a different research article.
