Examiner Reports on Research Dissertations Assignment

Assignment Task: Examiner Reports on Research Dissertations

Examiner Report Form – Research-Based Dissertation Format

The conferment of the Master’s degree relies on coursework and/or examinations alongside a dissertation.

The examination process mandates independent assessment of the dissertation by two examiners, with one being the supervisor. Upon completion of the form, the examiners must collaborate to establish a final mark (refer to Guidance Notes).

The dissertation merits a percentage mark as per the outlined marking scheme. Examiners recognizing distinction (>70%) or merit levels should clearly denote this.

Examiner:

  • The degree to which the dissertation addresses a clearly defined problem/research question, supported by a robust rationale grounded in a critical comprehension of pertinent existing evidence/knowledge base.
  • The clarity, comprehensiveness, and replicability of the study/review methods (including ethical/regulatory considerations).
  • The lucidity of primary study/review findings and the presentation of any statistical analyses or narrative/qualitative syntheses.
  • The depth of discussion, encompassing a synopsis of key findings, critical evaluation of the study/review outlined in the dissertation, self-reflection, and implications for practice, policy, and/or further research.
