ENN523 - Advanced Network Engineering Assignment

Assignment Task: Advanced Network Engineering - Assignment

Introduction

This group project, worth 20% of your grade, involves three or four members. This document outlines the background information, the Call for Book Chapters, submission details, report organization and format requirements, as well as the marking scheme for this assignment.

This assignment aligns with the following unit outcomes:

  1. Detailed understanding of developing technical specifications from business requirements for computer network planning.
  2. Skills in planning and designing computer networks to meet requirements, focusing on connectivity, scalability, reliability, security, and QoS.
  3. Advanced collaborative and communication skills through a group project and formal technical report.

Key Technical Aspects

This assignment project covers technical details, international standards, and practices related to a chosen topic for network planning, to be specified later in Section 2.

Call for Book Chapters

The pace of development in computer network technologies often outstrips their adoption and deployment. This discrepancy is due in part to the challenges and complexities of integrating new technologies into existing networks and the lack of clear deployment guidelines. This assignment aims to address these challenges by producing a monograph offering architecture analysis and planning guidance.

Each group is tasked with writing a book chapter on one of the specified topics, aimed at postgraduate-level readers. The chapter should cover main aspects akin to textbook chapters, without overly detailed protocols and techniques unless directly relevant to architecture analysis and planning. Comprehensive research, literature review, and structured design are necessary before beginning to write. When discussing computer networks, it`s crucial to note that RFCs serve as international standards for the Internet, alongside other standards from ISO, IEEE, etc. Therefore, primary references should be RFCs and other international standards where available, rather than third-party interpretations.
