Part One: Theoretical Essay (60%) Learners are required to write a 2,000-word assignment that evaluates a chosen theoretical framework for working with children and adolescents. Learners should demonstrate the ability to integrate relevant material from the scientific literature, considering outcomes and efficacy. The work should articulate and evaluate the use of assessment procedures specific to the framework being presented, and will also evaluate ethical and relationship issues that could emerge in the work. Part Two: Clinical Application Having reviewed the literature on the chosen theoretical framework, learners will present a 1,500 evaluation of how it could be applied to a chosen issue. This section will integrate theories of development, neuroscience, biology, and psychotherapy to discuss the presenting issue. The learner must then present an evidence-based approach to therapy for a child/adolescent who presents with that issue. MIMLOs 4-5 Indicative Issues might include: – Trauma and children/adolescents – Substance misuse in adolescents – Anxiety in children/adolescents – Depression in children/adolescents – Grief, loss and bereavement – School refusal – Family conflict – The impact of bullying – Sexual abuse
