Part 1: Definition of Inclusion and Integration – (20 marks in total)

Inclusion

• Define the concept of Inclusion and why it is important.
• What are the benefits and challenges of Inclusion?
• Examine and discuss the different approaches to Inclusion.

Integration

• Define the concept of Integration and why it is important.
• What are the benefits and challenges of Integration?
• Examine and discuss the different approaches to Integration.

Part 2: Outline ways in which you could create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. As part of the project you must create a visual aid for a student with a specific special need to help teach a life skill to promote independence, that would support the student’s inclusion and independence in the classroom environment under the guidance of the teacher. (25 marks in total).

• Discuss how the life skill would be taught using the visual aid you have created. As part of your discussion, you should include features such as; task analysis of the skill being taught, good communication skills, chaining, prompting, etc.
• What challenges would you envisage and how would they be addressed?
• How would you promote independence for a child with special needs?
• Discuss the role of the SNA in promoting an independent and inclusive environment under the guidance of the teacher.
