Professional Training Evaluation of Virtual Environments Assignment

Assignment Task

Brief

Towards the end of the Professional Training Year, you will be required to submit a written report evaluating your placement and the range of tasks you performed, analysing the professional practices and environments you experienced, and providing evaluation of and reflection on your personal and professional development during the course of the year. Part of the report’s content will be based on the reflection that you undertook as part of the Professional Development Review (PDR) and the feedback you received from your Workplace Supervisor and your Placement tutor. It may be helpful to think about how you have made use of available opportunities, the skills that you have gained and developed, your reflection on the experience as a whole, how your experiences relate to your subject as a broad discipline, and the relationship between your placement experiences, academic studies and career aspirations.

Content

The report should contain the following sections:

  1. Subject specific/technical section

    a. This section of the report must contain a short description of the organisation, your role in summary form and a brief account of the work you undertook. You are expected to provide concrete examples/case studies of your work.

    b. This section of the report must contain completed SFIA7 form.

  2. Reflective section

    a. This section should encompass analysis and critical evaluation of operational practices that you undertook and assessment of your personal and professional growth based on your reflections throughout the year as part of your PDR.

    b. Having taken into consideration the feedback provided by your Workplace Supervisor and the development plan outlined in your PDR, you should address your current strengths and weaknesses and how you plan to address any development needs and build on your strengths further.

    c. A reflection on the relationship between your placement experience and future academic and/or career aspirations. You may wish to consider if and how your placement experience consolidated things you learned during your studies. This might include a reflection on the transferability of your skills and your newly acquired awareness of institutional practices, professional environments, and career options.
