Formative Assessment: Formative assessment occurs through learner engagement with lectures and practical application of clinical tools. Learners are required to utilize these tools with clients and reflect on their experiences in supervision and class. The supervisor’s report associated with Part Two of the assessment is formative in nature, contributing to the learning process of this module, but is not mandatory for assignment submission. Further details on the summative assignment submission requirements are discussed below.

Summative Assessment: Practice Issue Proposal (80%) and Clinical Impact Report (20%)

Assignment Overview: This assignment comprises two parts. The first part involves identifying a practice-based issue (PBI) within the learner`s clinical or working context. The literature related to the issue must be critically evaluated, exploring correlations between clinical variables and therapy outcomes. An evidence-based solution should be proposed, demonstrating the ability to incorporate outcome research. The assignment should be a non-abstract 3,500-word proposal, including a pathway for cohesive implementation. This section assesses MIMLOs 1-3 (80% of the overall grade).

Part 2 – Clinical Impact Report: Learners are required to submit a 1,500-word report evaluating their current clinical practice. This report should reflect on professional development resulting from engagement in supervision and the impact of the module on clinical practice. The assignment assesses MIMLOs 4-5 (20% of the overall grade).

Marking Criteria:

  • LO1: Analyse, evaluate, and implement findings from cutting-edge clinical research impacting practice issues.
  • LO2: Identify practice-based issues and propose evidence-based solutions informed by research.
  • LO3: Develop and implement new strategies for clinical work based on identified research gaps.
  • LO4: Demonstrate effective use of clinical supervision and take responsibility for ongoing personal and professional development.
  • LO5: Critically reflect on the supervisory process and its impact on professional growth.
