Critically discuss a global health challenge relating to climate change. Identify an intervention that can address your chosen health issue.

Background to question

Health professionals increasingly recognize that the climate crisis challenges our foundational health mission of improving health, preventing harm, and advancing equity (Salas, Miller, and Neira 2021).

Part A - Report

Consider addressing a health challenge in a country you are familiar with that can be exacerbated by climate change either directly or indirectly. Drawing on the presentations, discussions, and tasks from this course, along with your broader reading of relevant literature, you should write a report demonstrating your understanding of how this health challenge could be addressed with a `bottom up` (or grassroots) intervention in a setting with which you are familiar.

• Justify your choice of setting and proposed health challenge
• Outline your proposed `bottom up` (`grassroots` or local level) intervention
• Using a planning model, highlight the steps you would take to develop the intervention
• Identify how this relates to global and national policies relating to your proposed health challenge
• Consider which stakeholders you will work with in developing this intervention. Consider stakeholders outside of the health sector
• Identify what obstacles you might face in attempting to develop an intervention on this topic
• Consider how this intervention has the potential to improve health among a vulnerable population of your choice (e.g., children, women, older people, minority groups)
• What are the key strengths of the approach taken?

Remember that the assessment is on your attainment of the course learning outcomes rather than addressing clinical aspects of care. Your assessment should be supported throughout with a wide range of appropriate evidence (references). If using reference management software (recommended) such as Endnote or Mendeley, you should select one Harvard style and use it consistently.
