Assignment 1: Sally’s Intervention Plan   

  • State what is an intervention plan for a preschool child with a disability and what is the purpose of an intervention plan. Introduce Sally.
  • Outline Sally’s strengths and needs and link to the literature (e.g. strength-based approach) and outline what would the SLC priorities (choose 2 or 3) be for her and why.
  • Choose two parent goals (based on what the parent wants) and state why these were chosen and discuss how they will be implemented linking to literature. State who will be involved and why and describe how they will work together to implement and monitor the goals you stated.
  • Have a reference list (approx. 20) of mainly articles and books.  The references are to share where the intext citations came from.

In this assignment: 

  • Outline some speech, language and communication priorities to support the child’s communication participation at home, at school and in her local community.
  • Identify two parent goals for the child in relation to her language and communication.
  • Critically discuss the strategies that could support her and the family to achieve these goals.
  • Identify the key professionals who need to be involved in this intervention plan, the respective roles of these team members, and how the team members can work together to support the child.
