Assessment Task

Students may select articles that involve ABA (applied analysis behaviour) as an intervention for Autistic children in the school setting.

• Discuss what Autistic Spectrum Disorder is
• Discuss ABA is and ABA as an intervention
• Discuss and make a stance on ABA as an intervention applied in schools

Students will be required to apply the literature on treatment and/or intervention in order to assess the quality of treatment. There is thus a content portion and a critical evaluation portion. Learners must introduce the issue and treatment plan using theory and research and provide research which supports and/or contradicts the practices intervention. The students are therefore not limited in examining any particular approach to this condition/issue. I

Demonstrate critical thinking in relation to practice shown and evaluate the appropriateness of the overall approach to the issue.

You will be required to submit a report that critically reviews the literature relating to the nature of the transition

The core of the essay should answer the following questions:

What is the issue:

• How does it present itself at the societal level/cultural level?
• Is it a normative/non-normative transition?
• how is it operationally defined?
• How does the transition relate to the developmental stage and personal identity?
