The scope of the operation under study should be reasonably wide enough, or you may not be able to provide sufficient discussion for the following questions. You are required to use the literature research (e.g., academic references, news report, and online customer reviews etc.) and your personal experience (e.g., as a frequent visitor or staff) to write a report addressing the following:

1. ITO and 4Vs: Briefly explain the operation you are studying, and use the inputtransformation-output and 4Vs diagrams to critically analyse the operation as well as support your explanation.
2.  Layout and Process Design: Critically examine the layout and process design of your selected operation. To what extent is it effective in ensuring smooth flow and reducing unnecessary movements or wastage? Utilise appropriate diagrams and models to explain your analysis. You should use both direct observation and indirect evidence (e.g., customer reviews, academic references) in this part. What recommendations, if any, would you propose for improvement? Justify your answer.
3. Capacity Management: Analyse the capacity management of your chosen operation. How effectively does the operation match demand and supply? Discuss the strategies being used to manage capacity and evaluate their effectiveness. Consider both peak demand periods and slower times. Draw on both the theoretical frameworks and real-world data or observations in your analysis. Again, what improvements would you suggest, and why? Justify your recommendations with proper reasoning and evidence.

1. Have an awareness of a range of factors that shape the discipline of operations strategy and management and be able to explore and comment upon the viability of the subject and its broader applicability to organisations and management.
2. Understand the benefits for the study of operations strategy and management using a multidisciplinary approach.
3. Cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis. This includes the capability to critique both practice and theory through their comparison using real-world cases.
4. Effective problem solving and decision making using appropriate quantitative and qualitative skills including identifying, formulating and solving business problems. The ability to create, evaluate and assess a range of options together with the capacity to apply ideas and knowledge to a range of situations.
5. Effective communication, oral and in writing, using a range of media which are widely used in business, for example, the preparation and presentation of business reports
6. Effective self-management in terms of time, planning and behaviour, motivation, selfstarting, individual initiative and enterprise.
7. Abilities to conduct research into business and management issues, either individually or as part of a team for projects/coursework/presentations. This requires familiarity with a range of business data, research sources and appropriate methodologies and for such to inform the overall learning process
