EC252-5-AU/ZA - Introduction to Econometric Methods Assignment - The University of Essex

Assignment Task: Introduction to Econometric Methods

In this report, we address the university`s requirement to excavate the grass-covered slope/mound near the Fasset Road entrance (Penrhyn Road campus) down to the level of the adjacent parking bays. The assessment focuses on determining the volume of soil to be excavated through a levelling survey.

Marking Criteria Summary:

  1. Safety Risk Assessment:

    • Prepare a comprehensive safety risk assessment tailored to the excavation work.
  2. Levelling Survey:

    • Perform the levelling survey according to the instructions provided in `Practical 1 - Levelling Survey`, including sketches, calculations, and quality evaluations.
  3. Volume Calculation:

    • Utilize the survey results to calculate the volume of soil to be removed from the project site. Assume a bulk density of 1.55 t m-3 to estimate the mass, influencing the number of required lorries.

General Instructions:

  • Present your findings in a technical written report, accompanied by relevant sketches, diagrams, and calculations.
  • Include photographs or scans of field book pages showing original data.
  • Structure your report according to the specified headings, with clear labeling of sketches, diagrams, and print-outs as Figures or Tables.
