Tuning in assignment
To become a competent social worker, I must gain experience in tuning in. This is my first tuning in whilst on my placement in the primary care liaison mental health team, and I have chosen to do the Douglas and McColgan model. I like how the headings clearly explain what I need to include, and this guide should enable me to prepare and gain insight before meeting her.
As a social work student in a mental health ward, I will observe the social worker’s role in supporting patients who are dealing with a range of mental health issues. I am prepared to carry out any duties required by the social worker in charge. My duties may include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, providing information on counseling and therapy, connecting patients with community resources, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
On a daily basis, I may interact with patients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or other mental health conditions. I believe the work will be challenging, but rewarding, as you help patients navigate their journey towards recovery and wellness.
