Summary

This individual assessment comprises two tasks, Task 1 and Task 2, each contributing 50% to the module. You are required to produce a professional technical report of approximately 4000 words, incorporating appropriate images to illustrate your steps. Typically, your report might be structured as shown in Table 1. Utilizing and expanding on the techniques covered in sessions and practical activities will earn more marks. While formative feedback will be provided, incorporating reflection into your work enables you to demonstrate evaluative content.

Task 1: Operating Systems Research and Test Rig Setup

This task evaluates your deep and systematic understanding of the primary features of operating systems and their networking functions, as well as different security threats to networks and potential encounters with them (LO1, LO2, LO3).

Task 2: Problem Solving in Operating Systems

Here, you are expected to demonstrate your ability to develop and write complex software to address problems relevant to various aspects of operating systems and computer networks (LO1-LO4).
