You are required to submit an Annotated Bibliography of four information sources:

2 Peer-reviewed journal articles (one must be published in a sociology journal)

1 Webpage

1 Book

NB: The sources must relate to one of the essay topics outlined in Assignment 4. You do not have to do your essay on the same topic, but you may find this useful preparation.

Task objectives

The aim of this assignment is for you to develop your skills in researching, summarising, and synthesising different types of academic writing, and media. This task also supports you to develop material for Assignment 4, the essay.

Task Instructions

Choose one of the topics listed in Assignment 4 as the theme for your Annotated Bibliography. You should pay particular attention to the structure of your Annotated Bibliography, and it should contain the following:

• The name of your topic.
• Detail on how you found the sources. Include your search terms and the database, book catalogue or search engine used (not included in the word count).
• Title and bibliographic details using the Harvard system (your usual reference system).
• A 200-word summary in your own words on the focus of the item/its purpose/key findings/conclusions reached, including what you see as the limitations of the source, especially related to your topic (output: 4×200 words).
• An overall evaluation on how each item advances your thinking on your chosen topic or contributes to your argumentation (output: 200 words).
