The town of Lismore flooded twice.in 2021, in February and March, within 4 weeks of each other. The February flood was 2 metres higher than any record going back to 1887. These climate events impact on the mental health of the people and the communities affected. Among those affected is a person who has lost their work at the Lismore Art Gallery which was destroyed in the flood. Six months after the second flood they are continuing to experience depression. In your practice, you will work with people and communities affected by environmental crises.

Write a research essay developing your understanding of factors involved in these situations and how you would support a person or community experiencing disaster related mental health challenges.
