With the current growing populist rhetoric in the western democracies such as the U.S.A., France, Italy, Germany, the U.K., and the Netherlands, what has become of the earlier excitement and enthusiasm of these countries on the benefits of globalization? Is globalization going to be “just another fad?” Are we all heading for another round of protectionism, in which countries will just go into their own little “cocoons?”
