Introduction

A labelled diagram of the digestive system will be displayed in section A of this assignment. A detailed description of the four stages of digestion will be explained along with the role of insulin and bile in the human body. To finalize the major roles of the vital organs in the digestive system will be outlined as well as its function and structure.

Part B of this assignment will consist of a researched disorder or disease that occurs in the human digestive system as well as the symptoms and treatment. Last but not least, a brief questionnaire will be given to at least ten individuals in order to gauge their understanding of this specific disease or disorder.

The digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract (also known as the GI tract or digestive tract), the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The GI tract is a set of hollow organs connected in a long, twisting tube from the mouth to the anus. The mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small, large, and anus are the hollow organs that compose the GI tract. The digestive system’s internal organs are the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder.
