I have been involved in the fitness industry for more than 10 years and have seen firsthand the positive impact it can have on people’s lives. I am also intimately familiar with the trials and tribulations associated with running such a business, and the havoc that current world events can wreak on a business that can be so vital to the health of a community.
Covid-19 has put the more than 7,200 gyms in the UK, along with their estimated 380,000 employees and personal trainers, in a precarious position now and going forward (Wood, Z., 2020). What can the gyms do to help supplement the off-site workouts their members are doing, and encourage them to keep their monthly memberships active?
Many kinds of gyms have traditionally offered competitions in-house between their members. The aim of this project is to empower gyms to take these competitions online so they can continue with the off-site workouts.
