Mark Technical report: The relevant information should be appropriately selected and presented showing a clear understanding of the basic principles of plastic materials and processing. 3,000 words is a guideline of word count, but more or less is acceptable if all of the main points are covered. Marks will be allocated towards the following areas:

  1. Design a cleanroom wipe container – ie a plastic container that holds cleanroom wipes, keeps them sealed, allows the user to conveniently take a wipe out without disturbing the other wipes.
  2. Apply the principles of effective material selection to select appropriate materials for the container. Justify materials selected by listing relevant properties of the chosen material and any additives if necessary to give the component functionality and durability for end use.
  3. Design a mould for the container/ lid. Include all relevant mould design/ part design details. Drawings should include enough detail to demonstrate a clear understanding of injection mould design principles.
  4. Marks will be allocated for any additional information that is deemed to be appropriate to include in the report – for example costing of the container/ market research/ marketing plans/ packaging design etc.
  5. Demonstrate a clear and concise progression and attention to detail through each section of the report including relevant content, consistent fonts, colour coding, spelling/ grammar, and clear referencing of external sources of information used on the report.
